Theater Release Date: 2004 Length: 120 minutes Distributor: Buena Vista Home Entertainment DVD Release Date: 11/02/2004 Director: Frank Coraci Cast: Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan, Jim Broadbent, Cecile de France, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kathy Bates, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Rob Schneider, Mark Addy, Karen Mok, Will Forte, John Cleese, Ewen Bremmer, Ian MacNeice
Plot: In this raucous Disney adaptation of Jules Verne's classic adventure novel Around The World In 80 Days, Steve Coogan plays Phileas Fogg, a quirky inventor at the turn of the 20th century. After suffering rejection by England's Royal Academy of Science, Fogg strives to prove his scientific worth by accepting a challenge to circumnavigate the globe in a mere 80 days. Fogg, his cohort Passepartout (Jackie Chan), and his new love Monique (Cecile de France), find trouble and excitement as they make their way from Turkey to Morocco to the United States, and ultimately Fogg discovers that scientific validation is not all he needs for a successful life. Jackie Chan shines in his role as Passepartout, who masquerades as Fogg's valet in an attempt to escape authorities after he robs the Bank of England. As he evades his enemies and keeps Fogg in the dark about his true background, Chan provides stellar comedic action and performs daring stunts. Celebrity cameos punctuate the film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing a polygamous Turkish ruler (filmed before the start of his campaign for California governor) and Owen and Luke Wilson playing the hilariously squabbling Wright Brothers. In addition to the lavish sets and nonstop action, this version of the classic remains true to the idea that one should hold on to dreams, no matter how improbable or outlandish.

Theater Release Date: 1997 Length: 87 minutes Distributor: Warner Home Video DVD Release Date: 09/04/2001 Director: Sammo Hung Cast: Jackie Chan, Richard Norton, Miki Lee, Karen McLymont, Gabrielle Fitzpatrick, Vince Poletto, Barry Otto, Joyce Godenzi, Peter Houghton, Peter Lindsay, Sammo Hung
Plot: In Sammo Hung's Mr. Nice Guy, Jackie Chan plays a popular TV chef (also named Jackie) who accidentally saves a reporter pursued by two warring gangs--one that looks like the standard Cosa Nostra types, the other a group of upstarts who could have been cast in The Warriors. After the two gangs decide to come after Jackie, he drops his nice guy image and fights back. Originally slated to be the fifth movie in Chan's Police Story series, the film is filled with Chan's trademark physical comedy and stunts--one of which went awry and briefly confined him to a neck brace. A battle at a construction site recalls the best Keystone Cop gags, and the finale involving a 120-ton truck tops the hovercraft sequence in Rumble In The Bronx for sheer destructiveness. Filmed in English, this is the second collaboration between director Sammo Hung and Chan in the 1990s and the first time Hung directed Chan since Dragons Forever (1987). Taiwanese singer Miki Lee makes her film debut as Chan's girlfriend, and there are cameos by Hung; his wife, Joyce Godenzi; and the Pepsi Corporation.

Plot: Because the success of the first Lucky Stars film (Winners And Sinners) had a lot to do with the Japanese market, the second film in the series takes place in the land of the rising sun and features Michiko Nishiwaki, the Japanese female bodybuilder. Jackie Chan plays an undercover cop who solicits the help of his gang of childhood friends--the five Lucky Stars, each of whom specializes in petty crimes and minor mishaps--to help him catch Japanese gangsters. Dough-faced Eric Tsang replaces John Sham as one of the Lucky Stars, while Sibelle Hu plays the femme du jour and the object of the Lucky Stars' lust. The film features several notable fights, including a surreal sequence in which Chan rumbles in an outlandish amusement park costume; in another memorable fight, director Sammo Hung battles in a yellow jumpsuit, à la Bruce Lee's Game Of Death. The fantastic showdown at a haunted house attraction pits the Lucky Stars against a stellar cast of opponents: Hu versus Nishiwaki, Hung versus Lau Kar-wing, Yuen Biao versus Lam Ching-ying, and Chan versus Dick Wei.

Plot: In this entertaining sequel to Shanghai Noon, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) and Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson) are reunited on an adventure that leads them to Great Britain. Upon hearing of his father's murder in China at the hands of Englishman Lord Rathbone (Aidan Gillen), Wang leaves his law-enforcing life in Nevada and heads east. In New York City, he tracks down Roy, who now works as a waiter/gigolo. After a close encounter with New York's finest, Wang and Roy travel to London, where they team up with Wang's sister, Lin (Fann Wong), also out to avenge their father's death. Their search uncovers a plot to assassinate the royal family and brings them into contact with many touchstones of turn-of-the-20th-century British culture. A fitting follow-up to Chan and Wilson's first pairing, Shanghai Knights takes the fish-out-of-water element of the original and doubles it, as both Wang and Roy navigate the highs and lows of Victorian London. Chan, as always, astounds with a series of acrobatic fight sequences that involves unusual accessories such as revolving doors, fruit stands, and Chinese vases. And Wilson once again aptly fills the role of the wisecracking opportunist with a conscience who has a wry quip for every occasion. Meanwhile, Fann Wong is luminous as Wang's high-kicking sister; Aidan Gillen sneers superbly as the scheming Rathbone, and Hong Kong legend Donnie Yen makes the most of his small role as Rathbone's co-conspirator. In addition to incorporating Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Charlie Chaplin, and Jack the Ripper into the story, David Dobkin's amusing film also features knowing nods to Singing In The Rain and the Harold Lloyd classic Safety Last.

Chan, whose irresistible onscreen persona suggests a hybrid cinematic reincarnation of Buster Keaton and Bruce Lee, was already the biggest box-office draw in the world when Supercop (originally produced in 1992) gained a U.S. theatrical release in 1996. The film displays Chan's dual mastery of physical comedy and martial arts while also (in outtakes shown behind the closing credits) showcasing his notorious predilection for handling his own stunts. Chan's daredevil approach was shared in the film by his breathtaking costar, Khan, also known as Michelle Yeoh, a former Miss Malaysia who would go on to solidify her reputation as a peerless action star in her own right with the stupendous critical and popular success of the 1999 film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

It isn't long before Eddie arrives in Ireland where he is teamed up with beautiful Interpol officer Nicole James (Claire Forlani), who also happens to be a former flame. Together Eddie, Nicole, and the bumbling Watson manage to track down the child, but after an accident in which Eddie appears to have died, it's up to the gifted boy to put the trusty medallion to work and resuscitate him. While Chan appears to have lost a bit of a bounce from his early days, he still pulls off moves that would leave most actors flatfooted. This time around, director Gordon Chan uses special effects alongside superstar choreographer Sammo Hung's action sequences, giving the audience a double dose of adrenaline. As is the case with most Chan films, hilarious outtakes and bloopers accompany the film's closing credits.

Plot: In The Tuxedo, Jackie Chan stars as Jimmy Tong, a taxi driver who's aggressive behind the wheel, but painfully shy outside of his cab. Jimmy's driving talents garner the attention of a secret organization, and soon he's hired as the chauffeur for the suave, enigmatic agent Clark Devlin (Jason Isaacs). However, when Devlin is severely injured in an assassination attempt, Jimmy must don Devlin's suit--which just happens to be a state-of-the-art, two-billion-dollar weapon loaded with special capabilities and gadgets. Paired up with ambitious but inexperienced agent Del Blaine (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Jimmy must continue Devlin's mission, which involves foiling Dietrich Banning (Ritchie Coster), a power-mad bottled-water mogul. Kevin Donovan's action-packed comedy gives the talented Chan an unusual opportunity to play a character not adept at martial arts. Of course, once he puts on the tuxedo, he's capable of amazing physical feats, but Chan revels in hamming it up as someone who's literally not in control of his actions. Meanwhile, Hewitt provides catty support, and Isaacs (the villain in The Patriot) makes the most of his good-guy role. A goofy Bond-ish romp, The Tuxedo also features Debi Mazar as a tough secret agent and Peter Stormare as a nerdy mad scientist.

Theater Release Date: 1992 Length: 90 minutes Distributor: Buena Vista Home Entertainment DVD Release Date: 09/07/1999 Director: Ringo Lam Cast: Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Teddy Robin Kwan, Anthony Chan
Plot: It is a tradition in the Hong Kong film community for actors and directors to donate their time and the profits from a film in order to raise funds for various causes. Twin Dragons was part of an effort of the Hong Kong Directors Guild to build a new headquarters. Ringo Lam and Hark Tsui split the directors job and Jackie Chan splits the lead in two by playing twins separated at birth. They are brought back together when the nonviolent concert pianist John Ma comes to Hong Kong and becomes involved in the life of his streetfighting twin, Boomer. Although it is conceived as a comedy and an obvious satire of Jean-Claude Van Dammes own twin brother film, Double Impact, there is plenty of action, including both car and boat chases. A complicated love story develops, with the usual mistaken identity problems, when Tammy (Nina Li Chi) and Barbara (Maggie Cheung) keep wondering why their boyfriends personalities keep changing. Cheung, who is best known for her stunning performance in Wong Kar-Wais In The Mood For Love, plays the foil to both characters with her usual sparkle. Chan provides the well-choreographed fights. Directors Lam, Tsui, and John Woo make cameo appearances.

Length: 102 minutes Distributor: Tai Seng Video Marketing, Inc. DVD Release Date: 07/11/2000 Director: Sammo Hung Cast: Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Richard Ng, John Sham, Stanley Fung, James Tien, Ching-Ying Lam
Plot: Teapot, Curly, Windpipe, Vaseline, and Ranks are a band of bumbling thieves who try to clean up their act by starting a janitorial service. They run afoul of a pair of gangsters when they find a briefcase containing counterfeit money. Made in response to the popular Aces Go Places series, Winners And Sinners is the opening salvo in a series of seven Lucky Stars films, though the film is only loosely related to the other six. Directed by Sammo Hung, the film lays down the precedents for the other films: the five Lucky Stars are teamed with one beautiful female (in this case, Cherie Chung) whom they each try to grope and woo; the film then climaxes in a slapstick showdown with cartoonish villains. Winners And Sinners marks the second time in which Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao--the three "kung-fu-teers"--appear together. Though Chan is not the star, he has an exciting action sequence in which he roller-skates through traffic. Comedic high points include a spirited rendition of Rod Stewart's "Young Turks" and an invisibility gag later mimicked in Mystery Men.
