When Ethan Hunt comes down from the Vatican wall using the same rope trick as was seen in the first
Mission Impossible, first thoughts which rise to mind are, seen it already and totally gratuitous. In the first movie, Hunt had to come down with his body in a horizontal position as it was crucial that he not make contact with the floor in order to avoid triggering an alarm. However here in this third mission, all he is doing is landing on the ground outside, so it's more natural to land on your feet. Why does he bother landing horizontally, merely to eventually stand on his feet. It's like the makers of the film needed to prove again that they can do the same old trick even if it doesn't fit, is totally unnecessary, and makes things look ridiculous. At the Vatican, how the mask of the villain Owen Davian was built was absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable. Ethan Hunt's team seems to be endowed with an endless array of super unbelievably powerful secret tools which they keep popping out of their batman utility belts. Whatever the danger or problem to overcome, expect some new device to pop out which can overcome it. What team could ever defeat Ethan Hunt's team? So why even bother making a movie when we know Ethan Hunt's got some super device which can overcome it at the last second. The summary of this movie can be "been there, seen that".
